Too much water!

Rick and I were very unfortunate to discover a leak under our kitchen sink this week. We've had a constant pool under there for several days now and every time i dry it up, a new puddle magically appears a few hours later. It's terrible timing. Rick is working so much and after this Sunday and Monday off, he will not have another day off until Christmas day. Neither of us have any idea what we're doing when it comes to plumbing, but we are planning on taking a box cutter to the wall under the sink to see if we can find where the leak is coming from. It's already starting to develop mold and yesterday I found a tiny slug under there. SO gross. We really don't need this to deal with right now, and finding the money to fix it is not going to be fun either.
We also have a big window in the living room that is actually 6 smaller windows that are only single paned. This year they've been collecting a lot of condensation inside and the water pools up on the pane below leaving pools. It's getting so bad the pools are dripping off and onto the carpet. We usually leave the curtains closed there but yesterday Rick discovered the curtains were soaked at the bottom, so he pulled out the couch and discovered there is mold growing on the carpet below from the constant wetness there. I guess he never had this problem either of the other winters he was here and the only thing I can attribute it to is our fish tank. It's just so much extra moisture flying around with that thing running 24 hours a day. Adam and I had some problems in Utah in one of our apartments with mold too, and the contractors said it was the fish tank.
So, sadly, I put the tank up for sale on Craigslist today. If anyone wants, or knows anyone who wants a 20 gallon fishtank with all the fixin's let me know. I'll cut them a deal! I love the fishtank, but it's not worth an unsafe house with extra moisture and a mold problem. I'm not saying the fishtank will do this to YOUR house, but we just have a horribly insulated house and the single paned windows are the only ones that are a problem. So if you have single paned windows, you probably don't want a fishtank :)
I am hoping this weekend Rick and I will be able to delve into the leak problem a little more and figure it out before we get this subarctic freeze in the next couple days...the last thing we need is pipes bursting or something!
I hope you all stay warm! From tomorrow night all the way through Thursday it is never supposed to reach 32 degrees. It is NEVER that cold here. I hope our poor little house holds up. We're going to be freezing.
Besides all that, I am done officially with school for the semester and for 2008! It feels good to have my first semester at PSU under my belt and done with. It was a LONG semester.
Hope you are all well!!

Just to let you know, I know a plumber. We've never used him (Adam does EVERYthing around the house), but we know one. He's my brother-in-law's sister's husband. I doubt he'd cut you a deal, but if you don't know anyone else, I know one. ;-)

Maybe.....IF you don't know anyone else, you could talk Adam into looking at it. Seriously, the guy can do ANYthing! ;-)
