the latest

I am writing from our new home, Rick's parent's motorhome, parked on the side of our house. I am actually quite happy to be here. It's so  nice being right next to our house so we can go grab whatever we need out of there. Both kitties are in here with us and they both seem to be happy and fine. We have plenty of room in here and all the amenities our actual house offers (minus our DVR!) so who could complain? Well, I guess I could. Our friend Austin came over last night and started pulling things apart even more in the bathroom. He had good and bad news. He is almost positive that the water is coming from the roof. THat's good, since that means we'll be able to find the source more easily and not have to go searching all over the place for the leak. The bad part is who knows how extensive it is and how much of our roof will need to be replaced/repaired. Austin also pulled out an entire bird's nest in our exhaust vent so now that's sitting in our bathroom. Austin told us that the pink mold in the bath is worse than the black mold, so he said its definitely good we're in the motorhome. He also said that the wall in our bathroom furthest from the exposed mold is dry and fine, so that's great news. He said the damage is localized to the wall between the bathroom and kitchen and maybe it's spread to the walls touching it, but not too far. We'll also have to see how extensive everything is in our ceiling and attic. Austin is sending a professional roof guy over to see us and give us a full estimate and say that all of this is water damage due to a roof leak. Austin said that should definitely be covered by insurance. This roof guy deals with and knows lots of insurance adjusters so we're going to get the estimate then go back to our insurance and see if there isn't something we can work out. In the meantime, we don't want to do any further work in there until we get a definite yes or no from the insurance. We leave for Chicago in a week from tomorrow and I have finals next week, so we don't want to get waist deep in there and have to leave it for a week either. So once the roof guy comes, we'll let you know what we find out. I'll also get some pictures up today. I am off to work now, but I'll be around all afternoon. Thanks for all the support and happy thoughts! Love, Lauren

It's so great that you're in such good spirits!

So, what about all your stuff? Like clothes, furniture, etc? Do you have to protect it?

I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with all cloth items. I haven't had time to do that research yet. My Mom says we need to move it all out but I talked to a realtor today that said it needs moisture to grow on so if the rest of your house doesn't have moisture than your stuff is ok...hopefully I'll be able to find the answer to those kinds of questions!
