Maui-Day 3-Snorkel Tour

On our 3rd day we boarded the Pacific Whale Foundation's boat to do a 7 hour snorkel tour, where we stopped at 2 snorkel locations. We were supposed to be able to see dolphins, but it got rainy and very windy at the usual location, so we didn't see any :(
We were really impressed with the Foundation though, because they gave us one plastic cup to use all day long, so we didn't waste, and it wasn't even plastic! A lot of eco-friendly companies in Hawaii are now using compostable cups made out of corn. I thought that was pretty cool.
Here are Rick and I just leaving Ma'alaea Harbor

Looking at Maui behind us

Arriving at our first stop-Molokini Crater-an underwater preserve for fish, and the land above is a bird preserve.

Our boat from the water

Rick in the crater.
The snorkeling was decent here, but not the best I've seen. It was still a lot of fun though and someone said they saw a reef shark that day, but we missed it.

Cute little fishies underwater

ha ha, no one looks cool with a snorkel mask on!

A little nap in between destinations

You can see the clouds are grey here, and it started to get a little chilly
These are the cliffs of Lana'i

The Lana'i harbor that we snorkeled in. It was cold but the snorkeling was much better. We saw a lot of cool things, but the underwater camera didn't do any of it justice.

A very good looking snorkeler

Headed back to Maui, and some sunshine!

We saw one turtle which was very cool

Later that night we had a really nice dinner at Kimo's restaurant in Lahaina. We both had teriyaki steak and mashed potatoes. It was my favorite meal in Hawaii. I drool now just thinking about it...

Us at Kimo's

And of course we went back to our hotel around, oh, 8. So lame!

In other news, we recently found out that Rick's uncle has a brain tumor! It is so shocking and sudden! He had surgery yesterday to have it removed, but we haven't heard yet if it is benign or malignant or what the prognosis is.
I just want David and Nancy and their kids to know Rick and I are thinking about all of you and we are hoping for the best outcome and if there is ANYTHING at all that we can do, we will.
Any spare prayers that anyone wants to throw his way would be helpful of course!!!
Thank you!
Lauren

Hope you had fun on your honeymoon... sure looks like you did. I know it probably took you hours on end to post all those pictures but thank you... I loved looking through all of them. Especially love how organized they were.
